Luis Oscar Figueroa Garcia

"Since childhood I have journeyed into many places that have marked the way I view the things I experience every day. I was seven years old when I became curious about drawing and I began to take painting classes. This was of great relevance to my formation as an artist and ever since then I have had a marked learning transition.

"I have always enjoyed painting and I have passed through many stages of dedication but it wasn't until six years ago that I began to apply my painting abilities, starting with rustic furniture. Back then a person saw my work, not only that on the furniture, and suggested I follow the path of the fine arts. It was because of this experience that I finally made up my mind to enroll at the University and study for a degree in Visual Arts with an orientation towards painting.

"Now that I have had first-hand knowledge of the different painting techniques and styles, I have been able to apply them to a new stage of experimentation – this is the main method I use to depict that which inspires me.

"The circumstances I have lived through have unleashed the way I paint. All that surrounds me, experiences, every thing that leaves an imprint on me - all of these are what I feel I must depict in my work. It's what inspires me the most."

Luis Oscar Figueroa has participated in various collective and individual exhibitions throughout Mexico, held at prestigious galleries and government-sponsored cultural centers.
