'Forest Spirit' (2004)

Extending a welcoming greeting, a woman invites all to enter a world of verdant beauty. A shaman hides between the tall grasses as he carefully admires the precious balance between flora, fauna and humans. Francisco Vilchez

Renowned throughout Peru as a great artist, the work of Francisco Vilchez is recognized by its unique style and variety of themes. Vilchez was born in the Cajamarca region on 23 January 1960. He moved to Peru to study Fine Arts at the Universidad Catolica.

"I would describe my work as prolific and of a good level," beams Vilchez. "I am inspired by the idea of establishing a harmonious, existential relationship with the viewer."

Vichez has presented his work in renowned galleries across Peru. He has also received several awards and honorary mentions. His latest work is known as the "Green Series," in which he attempts to create a particular jungle through separate canvases. An imaginary fauna inhabits this unique jungle. On the other hand, there is the work that represents the "Classic Vilchez," creator of dangerously seductive characters that gamble with life.

"As an artist, the greatest challenge I have had to overcome is to be able to live off my work," says the talented artist. "Hopefully through Novica I will be able to share even a tiny bit of your lives!"
