"The world of painting has always been an important feature in my life, ever since I was a child. My father and uncle are artists, and they specialize in painting posters for movies. I lived with my uncle during my first year of high school, and after school, I would help him prepare the canvas and the colors. At that time, movie posters had a very low value, compared to the elaborate process and effort it took to make them. They require great skill.

"That is why I never wanted to be limited to painting movie posters, and when graduated from high school I practiced the skills I learned from them, but in a different form. I was free painting for years when in 1992, I moved to Bali and began my career as a real artist.

"Freedom, hope, and a peaceful life inspire most of my works. I express those ideas in acrylic and oil on canvas. Colors mean different things. Each one represents certain things in certain situations. Like red sometimes refers to courage but sometimes it can also refer to anger and violence. For me, applying colors on canvas is like bringing together life through symbols.”
