"My name is Pruchya Nochai, but people call me 'Noom'. I grew up in an artistic family. My father is a carver, my mother a seamstress, and my elder brother is a musician. My grandmother, who looked after me very closely, was very strict out of love and anxiety. I understood because I loved her too.
"My interest in art developed when I was a child. During primary school, I participated in several art competitions and received various awards. In junior high, the subjects I particularly liked were music, art and science. When I graduated from junior high I got a scholarship to study Thai art, at the Vocational College of Fine Arts.
"Studying allows me to develop myself, my thoughts and my skills, and to meet talented artistic people. I am lucky to learn from proficient teachers and I am very happy to create art.
"I lead a natural, easy-going way of life. I live with love, colors and brushes, although at the moment my time is taken up with my studies rather than painting. When I create art, the brushes naturally paint shapes that come out different from reality, even unusual. I particularly love surrealism, because imagination is highly involved and it is so different from everything else."
