A graduate of Peru's School of Fine Arts, Jose Antonio Matos was born on August 6, 1978. His artistic talent was evident from a very young age, when he'd take delight in faithfully reproducing the cartoons he'd see on TV. "My family has always supported my interest in art," recalls Jose. "And, my teachers' comments at school encouraged me to pursue painting."
Jose regards as a true work of art a process that begins with three hours in front of a blank canvas, playing with ideas and considering images before deciding on a final composition to sketch out. Brushes take over and he can spend an unlimited amount of days painting, until he is ready to consider a composition to be finished.
"I sold my first painting when I was a student – I was so excited! I was the first one in the class to sell his work and it motivated me to continue. I love this art form; I love to paint about daily life or landscapes through abstract compositions.
"I thank God for putting me along this path, without major conflicts or problems in my personal life or as a professional artist. I am also grateful for teaming up with Novica; I appreciate the effort they make to support artists around the world."
The work of Jose Matos can be seen in numerous exhibits and galleries throughout Peru.
