Desmond Boamah

Desmond Boamah was born on June 5, 1968. Having studied at one of the oldest and most renowned schools in the capital, he continued his development at a college of art, specializing in Imaginative Composition and Figure Drawing. More like a born expressionist than a trained painter, Desmond first experimented with art as a young boy when he painted for friends, relatives, and even his school proprietor.

Eventually he became a fulltime teaching assistant at his alma mater, and his encounters with the brush, palette knife, and canvas became limited to his leisure time. However, he continued capturing the muse and inspired moments through art. His works seem to be borne of a uniquely imaginative source, employing singular strategies and styles to evoke personal realism - the forms and bodies in his mind.

Desmond works primarily with acrylics, although he also utilizes watercolors and oils. He has exhibited paintings in Ghana. The great sense of fulfillment, joy, and pride derived from training new students in art provides Desmond with meaning and inspiration.
