Novica regrets to inform that Kwanpracha Sornprasit passed away in January 2005, in Thailand, after injuries sustained in a roadside accident. Kwanpracha Sornprasit's spirit of joy and kindness will be warmly remembered and greatly missed. His legacy lives on through his art; phenomenal paintings that reflected his passion for life and his desire to help envision and create a more peaceful world. His contributions to Novica's "Peace on Earth" project were likewise tremendous.
"My name is Kwanpracha Sornprasit. I was born on January 29, 1974 in a northeastern port we call
Isarn in Thai. I come from a family of farmers; my parents would tell me that 'You don't need any education to be a farmer.' Nevertheless I wanted to pursue an education and my older sister supported me; she sacrificed her chance to study so that I might do so instead.
"I graduated from high school in my home town. Then, I went to study agriculture at the technical school for a few years before ending up at the vocational school in my home town. I knew I loved arts since I was young. I always enjoyed it and did well in art classes. Unfortunately, I got distracted studying other things that didn't quite interest me. Eventually, I began to focus on a career in arts and was admitted to study fine arts in the university. After that, I started looking for a job. Almost all my friends were working for big companies but I didn't want that for myself. I thought it would distract me from my art again. I focused on my art. I want my work to have a meaning. I don't really mind if people don't understand what I'm trying to say through my paintings - I just know I like what I'm doing.
"My feelings are not only affected by the outside world, but also by what's inside. Nature, the environment and human beings live together and need each other. Also, human behavior is part of nature. In my painting, form and color are related to space, which affects the audience on a mental level. My feelings concern women, which inspire me to create semi-abstract paintings. The value of life depends on the way we live and how we express our feelings under predetermined regulation.
"I would like to have my own gallery in my home town sometime in the future. For now, I just try to work on things relating to the art world I love. When I have free time I always travel. I collect information and absorb more inspiration. I like to see many things. But not only seeing, I also ask and learn about new things in the world. I'm so glad that Novica will present my work to the world. It doesn't matter if no one wants to buy my work. I will feel very happy if someone just takes a look at my work and appreciates it."
