Jamil Supriatna

Jamil Supriatna was born in Bogor, West Java in 1960. When he was a little child he loved to draw on every surface he found. Having recognized Jamil's talent as a painter, his parents took him to learn from senior painters in Bandung, West Java. In the evening, after finishing his homework, Jamil went to study with these experienced masters.

In 1981, he graduated from secondary school and moved from Bandung to Bali, in order to amplify his appreciation of Balinese art and culture. He presently lives in the city of Ubud, finding his true skills and characteristic as a painter with maturity. Being an artist is not an easy task, he states, as hard work and loyalty are required to achieve refined artistic sensibility. Jamil is grateful to have such a family that supports his work, providing constant motivation and inspiration.

He has participated in collective exhibitions throughout Bali and Java, as well as a showing in the Netherlands in the year 2000.
