Mexican artists Eduardo Lazo and Gabriela Villareal decided to blend their unique styles and techniques to create admirable, original compositions. They sign their work as "Lavilla," which refers to each of the artists' last names. Sometimes they sign their work with the intials "LV."
"Eduardo and I decided to combine our talents and portray them on canvas," begins Gabriela, as she explains the origin of their work. "Eduardo is a figurative artist, whereas I prefer abstraction and lots of colors. After working individually for so many years, we decided to create a collection based on our work as a team. We mainly want to express the different perspectives that we have regarding art and of creating art.
"Eduardo usually starts with his distinct drawings, and I transform them into something different, with a different perspective. The result is a unique work of art stemming from an approach that focuses on the search for a vanguard artistic expression. We play with textures and color, and we innovate techniques and their application.
"We have presented our work through several exhibits, in Mexico and around the world, through individual and collective exhibitions.
"Destiny has brought us together to transcend as a couple in our personal life, as well as in our artistic life."
