"To everyone around the world, I introduce myself. I am Umnuay Chaichana and my nickname is 'Nuay.' I was born February 10, 1981 in northern Thailand and am the only son of the family.
"My parents are farmers. We are very close. When I have a problem my parents give suggestions and help me resolve it, but when I was a young child I lived with my grandparents, my uncle and my aunt in a rural area. I grew up with the beauty of nature – fresh air, fields, buffaloes, dogs and my friends.
"I graduated with a vocational certificate in fine art from a technological institute. My reasons for choosing art are because art is very suitable for me and I can use my imagination infinitely, art has clear principles but doesn't have a certain response. I then took an examination to enter the sculpture department, but after one term I resigned because I needed a job to help support my family.
"At the same time I had a job in a village famous for its art and handicrafts, known for designs that are beautiful, traditional and representative of Thai arts. After a year, I opened my own art shop and I paint art works at home while waiting to open in a larger locale.
"I love nature, so my work presents stories of nature and village life. I feel proud of Thailand's wisdom, showing our local ways and my land's bountiful beauty.
"I am a bit reclusive. My life is rather easygoing. I have a life concept – I do today what is best and think cautiously before making each decision. If I fail, I immediately stop to think before continuing.
"I was so proud and so glad when I sold my first piece of art work. It was very motivational and gave rise to my artistic willpower. Novica is giving a chance to artists to show their work and thus people around the world can know about Thai arts very well. To everyone, thank you for your support. Thank you for your love and interest. You motivate us artists to continue."
