Juan Carlos Torres

Juan Carlos Torres del Águila was born on April 28, 1985 in the Cajamarca region. He has dedicated his life to painting and has adopted the artistic name of Diego Tristán. His family has been crafting ornate wood frames for over 25 years, and they provide Torres with beautiful pieces for his artwork, as well as inspiring him to delve into the realm of woodcarving.

Even as a young child, Torres loved to accompany his father to the family's workshop – he was fascinated by the works of the different artists who came by placing orders for their canvases. And so his passion for painting began to flourish, Torres began making his own sketches and drawings and the artists visiting his father's workshop tended to offer guidance. By the time he was 15 years old he took a small course at the local art museum, and he has been painting ever since.

Torres is moved by an insatiable passion to paint and to get to know everything there is to know about art. He enjoys sketching with charcoal in much the same way he enjoys painting in colonial and classic styles. His work has been on exhibition in art fairs and cultural centers around Peru.

For Torres, painting is an art form that expresses feelings and sentiments, so through his paintings Torres wishes to convey the union between culture and history. His greatest challenge is to be able to continue his current path: making a living with his art.

To Novica clients he wishes to express his delight in being able to share and be part of the artistic process.
