Lloyd Annih

"I'm from Peki in the Volta Region of Ghana. I was born on February 14, 1977 into a family of intellectuals who encouraged me to become a scientist. But the inborn talent to draw led me to pursue art during my senior high education at Ghanatta College of Arts and Design, although this was a disappointment for my parents.

"I like using oils and acrylics my paintings, which are mostly abstracts and landscapes.

"The major challenge I face with this profession is marketing my works. Art galleries here are more interested in the commission they receive than in promoting the artist.

"But it is different with Novica. Here, the artist is promoted alongside his work to international shoppers at no cost. This is hard to believe, but true."

After graduating in 2002, Annih has participated in group and solo exhibitions in Accra at venues that include the National Museum, the British Council Hall and the Goethe Institute.
