We are saddened to inform that Prakash passed away in November, 2002. His legacy lives on through his wife. Below is Prakash's story, as he originally presented it to us:
"I am a metallurgical engineer by profession and I have been involved in the field of metals for 30 years now. Ever since I was a child, I was so interested in art that I always found myself drawing or sketching something whenever I had free time. But I never intended to take up art as a profession since I was more interested and had more inclination towards engineering. During my time, art as a profession was not really at its peak. It was believed that there were not many opportunities or prospects in the field of art. So, naturally I had to choose engineering.
"However, during my professional career, I had always kept in touch with art. One thing that attracted me towards art was the ancient styles of art. I used to read numerous books on art and ancient civilization. Then I decided to do something different and unusual by applying my engineering background to my artistic creations. It was not long ago that I started using my own creative skills to make a line of products.
"I discovered a unique technique, and that was painting on copper plates. It might sound very common but the style I presented was something special. I recreated ancient art and presented them to those people who love ancient art as I do. It was not a very easy task, because I tried to copy the exact features and imagery of ancient art like the Indus Valley civilization, the Egyptian culture, etc.
"I have participated in some exclusive exhibitions organized by Magna Publication, like 'Society Collection' and 'Society Interior.' As far as an award is concerned, I have actually never applied for one though a lot of well-wishers and friends have encouraged me to participate. I believe every good thing comes naturally and I hope one day it would come naturally to me."
