Sri Widodo

"My name is Sri Widodo and I was born in Sragen, Central Java, on October 10, 1979. Java was almost entirely born of volcanic origin. It is a beautiful island, containing no fewer than 38 spectacular mountains of conical, volcanic form.

"I remember the time when my uncle, who is a senior painter and has been living in Bali since 1974, sent a postcard to me in Java, along with a catalog of his painting exhibition. That is when I seriously began to think about becoming a painter. In 1995 I decided to give up my job in textile production to pursue my dream. I came to Bali and learned painting from my uncle, Pranoto [a Novica featured artist]. My paintings primarily feature daily activities and landscapes."

"If you visit Bali, you will understand why I have come to love it so, and you'll know why this love is reflected in my paintings. Bali is a beautiful island with serene beaches, and wonderful arts and traditions."

Widodo has exhibited his work in galleries throughout Bali.
