Ana Rosa Navarro Gutierrez was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco. "I studied interior design, where my interest in painting began. As a newlywed, I lived in the city outskirts, where I found an art teacher and learned the techniques of oils and India ink. After a while, I continued learning new techniques, such as pastels. The truth is, I found watercolor the most daunting medium so, when I was a bit more experienced in other techniques, I began with watercolors and it was a real challenge for me.
"After using watercolor, and having been so intimidated by them, I was enchanted by their texture. Now I work with watercolors, pastels, and oils. I am always experimenting and mixing colors for different effects. I like having a blank page in front of me and transforming it into something special - especially when working with different colors and seeing how they meld into one another."
Navarro has not dedicated herself exclusively to painting, as she has three children and a grandchild. However, she has been invited to participate in exhibits in Guadalajara as well as in Chapala, Jalisco. Currently, her work is on permanent display in café-galleries around Guadalajara. She also paints on commission.
