Deepali

"It is never too late to achieve what you aspire to do in life.

"Hello, my name is Deepali. My childhood was full of fun and colors. Schooling was all about scoring and grades and I was a good girl in school. After high school, I completed my Master's Degree in Zoology. My subject required a lot of diagrams and I often found myself engrossed in sketching and painting things out of my syllabus. This is when I realized that painting is what I wanted to do.

"I got married in 1971 and I moved to Delhi. After completing my MS degree, I took a textile design course and incorporated my painting skill into various home furnishing items like cushion covers, wall hangings, baby quilts, and such. It was smooth sailing, but even then I was not totally satisfied. My inner self was yearning for something else. I thought to myself why not just concentrate on painting? Before I knew, I saw myself in a school of art and I must tell you, I couldn't be happier or more content. I get my ultimate happiness in painting. It feels so nice working with all my colleagues. Today I understand painting better.

"I concentrate mainly on figurative paintings and my themes basically feature day to day life. I want to explore human relations in every painting of mine. I always try to convey a message with my work. Each painting of mine portrays my ideas, my emotions. I know it took me a long time to reach where I wanted to be but, as they say, it's never too late and with this attitude I am here to stay."
