"Hello, my name is Sanjay Kumar and I was born on August 9, 1969 in Mumbai, known as Bombay then. I have been greatly influenced by my father, who used to work in a toy factory. I was keen on working with handicraft products and so I decided to start a company where I could fulfill my dreams of being close to culture and experience the many realms of Indian handicrafts. I work with about 50 artisans who are all based in Rajasthan and Gujarat. We make all kinds of handicrafts items including ancient traditional styles of painting, like miniature and
Pichwai, rich embroidery textiles like cushion covers, bedspreads, wall hangings, patchworks and
zari embroidery. It has been a great adventure so far. We go through a very stringent quality check. I myself do the quality test and I make sure that my buyers do not have any complaints as far as quality is concerned.
"We have designers working with us who designed on the base of our buyers' demand. I also put in my designs to the products. I am glad that I have been introduced to Novica. The fact that Novica is in association with National Geographic makes me feel even more proud to be a part of Novica."
Miniature paintings are one of India's unique and legendary art forms, characterized by their beauty and finesse. Though originally small in size, the term applies to a style of painting that is rich in detail that is meticulously executed with delicate brushwork. Colors were once obtained from minerals, vegetables, precious stones, conch shells, silver and gold.
