Castro Almeida

"Throughout my life I've always been interested in art and maintained a connection with painting. However, only since 1995 have I been able to dedicate myself to and develop my work. I prefer figurative art and I consider myself to be a landscape artist. After a while I found myself becoming more liberated, coming closer to impressionistic brush strokes, the result of studying and researching the masters of this style.

"I try to represent the lyricism and fantasy of life in the countryside, an inheritance from my youth in Piaui, a state in northeastern Brazil. The day-to-day life of a city in the interior of the country is heavily influenced by agricultural activities, and the images I've held on to since my youth are strong up to the present day."

The work of Castro Almeida has been exhibited extensively throughout Rio de Janeiro.
