"Hi, I'm Ruma Sharma and I was born and brought up in New Delhi. I was a very shy and sensitive person as a child but at the same time I had a lot of fun. During my childhood I was very interested in extra-curricular activities. I took up classical music as one of the subjects in school and also learned dancing, which helped me obtain the choreographer's job for a classical musical play on television. It was good fun. I also learned how to play the sitar and played in a concert.
"I was always compassionate towards the problems of others and was keen to help needy people. And this I did by going to the hospital and helping the sick. I am happy I did that when I could do it.
"Drawing and painting were also my passion. After school, I joined Delhi Polyphonic to study painting in detail. Then I entered the Delhi College of Art. This was the turning point of my career. Since then, I have never stopped painting.
"I love painting and always find solace in expressing my thoughts. My works are simple, colorful, cheerful and touch on the sensitive part of life. Anything in this world inspires me to paint.
"I have done a number of shows, including five solo exhibits as well as group exhibitions. It has been a great joy and learning experience each time.
While not working, I devote my time to my small organization which helps underprivileged people."
