'Life of the Farmer' (2008)

Nostalgia guides Graison's brush as he depicts farmers in the rice field. "They are whipping rice paddies like they did in olden times," explains Thai artist Graison. Painting with acrylics, he takes care to detail the people working round the mill at the center of golden rice fields.

" Sawasdeekrab! My name is Graison Polveechittragran, born 27 May, 1970. I am married and have a son, who is a clever and talkative boy. He is my inspiration. I have a great family, cute son and a good job. My life is so happy.

"The main reason why I studied art is that I love it. When I was young I submitted my paintings in many competitions, and I often received awards for them. After I graduated from University, I was a product and interior designer. I used to work at a saa (mulberry) paper company, and I had to do small pieces of work. I had to concentrate and be very patient. I hadn't had that kind of experience before, so I took it as a challenge and in 1992, I received the Best Designer Award at The Product Competition. However, deep in my heart my love for painting was still beating strong. Now, I spend all of my time painting, and I am so happy.

"I like to be in peace as well as to act rather than to speak, so I developed a style of painting by using abstraction, feelings, and shadows. I would like to create the kind of work others find outstanding and acceptable.

"I've been working on a new series of paintings, which I entitled 'Life and Time.' For this collection, I mix silver powder with acrylics to create a different illusion of light and shadows. This kind of artwork requires a different technique that not many people use.

"My work has a modern form that is different from local culture and the traditional way of life that I love. I grew up according to our Thai traditional way of life, which I still follow. But with regards to my work, I like to create modern images with modern techniques.

"I think Novica is a good way for us artists to exhibit our work. I would like to tell you all that I love art, and I will forever continue with my artwork."
