'Hot Power III' (2007)

Emerging in a whirlwind of color, a human torso is tall and strong. Fierce, quick brushstrokes compete with the palette knife in a compelling composition by Kittisak Rerkluan. "I want to represent the power in human movement," he explains. "Red represents power while the blue background symbolizes our natural environment – water, earth and trees."

"Most of my paintings depict the human body in abstract style and I try to convey people's power and emotion in my work."

"Hello, my name is Kittisak Rerkluan or you can call me Bird. I was born in May 1, 1980 and am the only child in the family. My parents divorced when I was 16 years old. I was sad, but it wasn't the end of the world.

"I've liked art since I was young, but became interested in painting in 1992. I painted themes of nature and women. In 1996, I studied art at Thaiviichitsilp School and, in 1999, I studied Humanity of Art in the university. After I graduated, I became an art teacher for only half a year. I quit and spent all of my time painting. I think art can make people be happy, so I really enjoy it.

"I sometimes like to spend time with myself and think about life and everything around me. Besides painting, I also teach special classes in art. It's fun. Most of my paintings depict the human body in abstract style and I try to convey people's power and emotion in my work.

"I like to work from my feelings so I do not stick with the same technique and pattern. All of my work arises from my feelings and I am so happy with it.

"I think all art is made from sense and soul, so the price isn't important. What is most important is how much people can touch the sense and soul of arts."

Kittisak Rerkluan's work has been exhibited in a number of Thai venues.
