"I was born in Rio de Janeiro and grew up there, where I began my studies in fine arts after studying three years in the School of Letters of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Later, I frequented several painting studios – the Lage Park School of Visual Arts and the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro as well as schools outside Brazil, where I lived for several years.
"I participated in some collective and individual exhibitions, and was invited to take part in the "Paint Rio Project" in which we painted walls in the city. My artistic career has evolved through a number of different stages and styles, including abstract, figurative, expressionist and papier maché on canvas. My research with materials occurs as an alchemical process in the creation of the texture, as I search for and experiment with different materials and techniques.
"For me, painting is my way of staying alive. It is a state of grace, a unique and magic moment. Music puts me in direct contact with art. The act of painting begins with the first gesture and it flows with the search for color and its discovery, the contrasts and effects, progressing in this way to a connection among light, shadow, volume and texture.
"The creative process is always recycled in the search for a constant renewal between effects and techniques.
"I am currently painting flowers and my main intention is to obtain a balance between definition and impression, using a mixed technique with collage, texture and acrylic paint on canvas. I'm happy to exhibit my paintings through Novica and I hope viewers receive them with the same affection and love with which they were created."
