Marcelo Moreno

Marcelo Moreno has been featured in LOHAS magazine.

"I was born in 1970 in Rio de Janeiro. I have drawn since I was a boy, but I only began adventuring with canvases in 1997, on the insistence of my girlfriend, Alessandra. She always said to study painting, but I was skeptical until I enrolled myself in a course. I wanted it to be a surprise and I didn't tell her at all. When I arrived at my house on that day it was she that said she had a surprise and she gave me a present of equipment for painting. I became excited and very happy with the coincidence. At that point I decided art was my destiny.

"I am accustomed to joking that, more than just revealing my talent, she wanted to have me nearby. Before living through art, which began in the middle of 1998, I worked as a designer for political campaigns and didn't have weekends, days off, or holidays. Now, as my studio is in my house, we see each other much more. She is also enthusiastic about painting and has dared a few brush strokes.

"In the first course I took I distinguished myself right away and the professor said that I should find a more advanced class. Then, in 1999, I went to the Parque Lage School of Visual Arts - the center of vanguard art in Rio de Janeiro - where I studied Abstract. I plan to return to Parque Lage to better myself in this style, emphasizing Cubism.

"Right off I would like to thank Novica. The people and the environment are very friendly. They say the fact that knowing a painting of yours is being admired by someone in the United States, in Japan, or in Europe is very gratifying. I hope to sell and produce a lot so that the partnership may last for a long time."
